A New House A New Life
It’s been a while since I first thought about this
blog. Back then I was living in rural
France but real life took over and I shelved the blog. I’m now back in the UK and as the title of
this post says, it’s a new life.
Firstly I must point out that this is not a witchcraft site
but takes it’s title from the fact that what we create in the kitchen can seem
like magic hence kitchenwitch. I also
like to pick blackberries or gather hazelnuts etc. and am aiming to grow
various vegetables, fruits and herbs in my garden, so that’s the
hedgewitch. The thriftwitch is because I
want to tread more lightly on this beautiful planet that as a species, we seem
intent on destroying. That said, I have
found that the Wheel of the Year fits well with me and gives me a structure for
the year.
The blog is aimed at documenting my journey and hopefully
some of it will be of interest to you who chance across it. My new house needs a lot of updating, for
instance I have Bakelite light switches and no earth wire! It had been empty for nearly 2 years and the
garden, which shows signs of former glory, needs a lot of TLC. I don’t have much cash available so I will be
looking at buying second-hand or making do with the overconsumption I already
have. In all of this endeavour I am sure
to be ably assisted by my 2 cats, 15-year-old Jewel and 2-year-old Gino.
Let the fun and work begin.
